Where do I come from
From Hessen

Nature. Quality time with friends and family. Books. Chocolate.
My own personal musical highlight?
Whether as oboist in the orchestra, in the intimate context of a lieder recital, making music with my sisters, or on the operatic stage – there was something unique about every performance.

Biography

SThe soprano Samantha Gaul is currently a fest ensemble member of the Theater Freiburg/ Germany and performed to date such roles as Olympia, Musetta and the title role of the German premiere of „Coraline” by Mark Anthony Turnage.
In the season of 18/19, she will be singing her first performances of Adele, Zerlina, and Yniold.
Furthermore, guest engagements already lead her to the Theater Augsburg/ Germany, where she performed as Sophie Scholl in „Weiße Rose”, as well as in the title role of Simplicius Simplicissimus, and as Serpetta and Adina. Moreover, she will have her debut in a Baroque Opera within the scope of the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele, as well as at the Rheingau Music Festival and the Weilburger Schlosskonzerte.
During her studies in the voice class of Prof. Hedwig Fassbender at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt/ Germany, which she was permitted to begin as a junior student and graduated from it with distinction, Samantha Gaul already had her first appearances on stage at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, Theater Gießen and the Munich Biennale for Contemporary Music.
To date, Samantha Gaul studies her master degree in Lied at the University of Music and Theater Munich in the class of KS Prof. Christiane Iven and maintains tuition classes for Lied with Prof. Donald Sulzen and Tobias Truniger.
Her studies are completed by masterclasses with Rudolf Piernay, Helmut Deutsch, Kai Wessel, Dorothee Mields and Axel Baunj, as well as with the participation at the Hessische Kammermusikkurs and the German Chamber Music Course, also by playing oboe and transverse flute. She was awarded, amongst others, with first prizes within the scope of the „Jugend musiziert” competition and received special awards of the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation and the Bundesapothekenkammer (National Chamber of Pharmacy)
Furthermore, she obtained the third prize at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang (National Voice Contest) and is an awardee of the Richard-Wagner-Verband, as well as of the Da Ponte and the artemusica foundation.
Together with her sister Gina Gaul she was nominated Mittelhessische Kulturbotschafterin (Mittelhessen Ambassador of Culture).
