Prof. Christiane Iven has been professor of singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich since the winter semester 2013/14.
She is also a voting member of the University Senate and the University Council.
The University of Music and Performing Arts (Hochschule für Musik und Theater) stands in a long past tradition with high innovative aspirations in respect of musical education in tune with the twenty-first century. At its eleven institutes the university trains students in all the musical professions, performing and teaching alike, in dance, in cultural and music management, music journalism and in theatrical professions – these last in collaboration with the Theaterakademie August Everding. The 100-plus courses lead to the degrees of Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Music or Master of Arts. The programme on offer is rounded off by a course for highly talented younger students and master classes leading to a certificate. The university attaches particular importance to real-life practice and offers students numerous opportunities for concert and stage appearances and for garnering teaching experience at master classes and workshops on career-related topics. An annual 800 concerts and other events at the university’s sites onArcisstrasse 12, Luisenstrasse 37a, Gasteig and the Prinzregententheater and in other venues in Munich make a substantial contribution to the musical life of the city.
