The University of Music and Performing Arts Munich stands for a tradition-rich past with a high demand for innovation regarding a contemporary music education in the 21st century. In all artistic and educational musical professions, in dance, in cultural and music management, music journalism as well as in theater professions – these in cooperation with the Theatre Academy August Everding- the university trains in its eleven institutes. More than one hundred courses of study at the university lead to the degrees Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Music and Master of Arts. The study possibilities are completed by a course for highly talented younger students and master classes resulting in a certificate. A particular focus lies in real-life practice and offering students a wide range of opportunities for concert and stage performances as well as for gaining pedagogical experience in master classes and workshops on job-related topics. Globally renowned teachers and alumni in top artistic positions ensure the international radiance of music education in Munich. Every year, about 800 concerts and events at the university locations Arcisstraße 12, Luisenstraße 37a, Gasteig and Prinzregententheater as well as in other venues in Munich contribute significantly to the city’s musical life.
